UGC National Fellowship for OBC candidates 2015-17 for M. Phil and Ph. D

The University Grants Commission has been organizing the scholarship scheme with a title of National Fellowship Scheme for OBC candidates for the year 2015-17. Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India, New Delhi is assigning and funding to the fellowship scheme. Those applicants who belongs to Other Backward Classes (OBC) category and very keen to practise their higher studies like regular and full time M.Phil. and Ph.D degrees in the field of Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences and Engineering & Technology.

300 seats will be allotted to the eligible OBC category candidates from the total application received for the National Fellowship Scheme for OBC. The physical handicapped candidates of Other Backward Classes category will be provided with the 3% reservation.

The main purpose of launching this scholarship scheme to give the fellowship to the eligible jobless Other Backward Classes category applicant to practise their Higher education leading to M.Phil and Ph.Degree in the form of financial help.

Eligibility for National Fellowship Scheme for OBC candidates :​

1=] The candidates must belongs to Other Backward Classes (OBC)

2=] He/ she must have passed the Post Graduate Examination.

3=] The candidates’ parents/guardian annual income should not exceed Rs. Six Lacs (6,00,000/-) from all sources.

4=] The applicant who is already registered for M.Phil or Ph.D will be entitled to apply for the scholarship scheme.

Award - National Fellowship Scheme for OBC candidates​

a] Fellowship in Science, Humanities , Social Science and Engineering & Technology

Junior Research Fellowship - Rs. 25,000/- per month for initial two years

Senior Research Fellowship - Rs. 28,000/- per month for initial for remaining three years

b] Contingency A

Rs. 10,000/- per annum for initial two years for Humanities & Social Sciences

Rs. 20,500/- per annum for remaining three years for Humanities & Social Sciences

c] Contingency B

Rs. 12,000/- per annum for initial two years for Science, engg. & Technology

Rs. 25,000/- per annum for remaining three years for Science, engg. & Technology

d] Departmental Assistance

Rs. 3000 per annum per student to the host institution for providing infrastructure for all subject

e] Escorts/Reader Assistance

Rs. 2000/- per month in case of Physically handicapped & blind candidates for all subjects

f] House Rent Allowance will be given to the candidates as per the norms of institution /university

How to fill the online form
a)Fill the Personal Information including caste and physical disability certificate(if applicable). A candidate registration id is generated on completion of filling

b) of personal detail that can be used for generating a pdf file once submission process is completed.

c) Fill all the Research Work including subject,research topic, department etc.

d) Fill all the other Information including Scholarships/Present employement etc.

e) Declaration and Final Submission

Required documents needed to be uploaded during submission of online form
1.> Upload Scanned Copy of Caste Certificate OBC

2.> Upload Scanned Copy of Parent’s Income Certificate (only if parent’s income is less than equal to 6 lacs)

3.> Upload the Scanned Copy of Candidate’s Recent Color Photograph

4.> Upload Scanned Copy of Master Degree Marksheet

5.> Declaration/Certificate needed to the uploaded from Head of Department/Institution or competent authority of the University/Institute/College for the forwarding of application and necessary facilities will be provided to the candidates during research of M.Phil/Ph.D. respectively.

6.> Scanned Copy of Physical Disability (if required) also be uploaded.
